Woshibai
Woshibai is a Chinese artist with a remarkable ability to construct narratives with apparent ease. His monochrome, minimalist illustrations are strikingly effective, drawing readers into a poetic universe that extends far beyond the page.
He first gained recognition through his work shared online and has since developed an international following. Based in Shanghai, Woshibai is part of the city’s alternative art scene.

20 KM/H
In 2026, Phillus invites Woshibai to Europe for a series of artistic and cultural exchanges. In collaboration with Belgian independent publisher L’Employé du Moi, Phillus presents a dedicated exhibition space for Woshibai at Grafixx Antwerp, exploring a recurring motif in his comics: the butterfly.
20 KM/H takes its title from the speed of migrating butterflies. As Woshibai writes in one of his poems:
“THE BUTTERFLY DOES NOT KNOW
ANY METAPHOR ABOUT ITSELF.”
This recurring motif echoes Zhuangzi’s Butterfly Dream, an ancient Chinese philosophical reflection on the boundaries between dreams and reality, self and other.
Moving between the everyday and the surreal, Woshibai’s comics carry this same dreamlike ambiguity, quietly exploring memory, solitude and existence.
Through this presentation, Phillus brings the poetic and philosophical language of contemporary Chinese comics to Antwerp — following the butterfly as it travels between dreams, images and cultures.
Special thanks to L’Employé du Moi for their generous support and collaboration.
